Conference Aims
The conference seeks to explore the multifaceted nature of travel as a transformative cultural experience, bridging historical research and contemporary artistic interpretation through the exploration of common intercultural denominators that transverse time and space. Inspired by the E-ROUTES project https://e-routes.eu/, this international gathering of professionals in cultural heritage and cultural tourism domains, artists, academics, researchers, PhD students, and others will:
- Examine travel as a dynamic form of intercultural communication
- Investigate the intersections of cultural heritage, artistic expression, and travel narratives
- Promote dialogue across disciplines, focusing on travel experiences from the 18th century to the present
Conference Scope
We invite scholars, artists, cultural practitioners, and researchers to submit proposals that investigate travel as:
- A method of cultural exchange
- A form of personal and collective narrative and experience
- A lens for understanding historical and contemporary interconnections
- An artistic and research methodology

Submission Guidelines
Please send your submissions in English (name/s, affiliation, contact email/s, title, abstracts, keywords), addressing the above one or more thematic areas by 31 January 2025 to eroutesproject21@gmail.com. Authors of accepted abstracts will be notified by 15 February 2025. Obligatory full papers must be sent to organizers by 15 April 2025. Following the conference, full papers will be published in the conference proceedings.
- Abstract length: 300-500 words
- Working languages: English
- Proposed presentation formats: 10-15 minute presentations of papers, artistic presentations, multimedia works.

Participants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation during the conference. The organizers will arrange affordable and convenient accommodation in Golubac, which will be offered to registered participants.
Venue
Golubac Public Library “Veljko Dugošević”, Cara Lazara 13a, Golubac, Serbia
Golubac is a beautiful town and popular tourist destination in eastern Serbia, on the banks of Danube which separates it from neighboring Romania. It is 130 km from Belgrade, approximately a two-hour drive by car. Among the beauties of this part of Serbia it is worth mentioning the Danube, which is almost six kilometers wide at that point before entering the Iron Gates Gorge, Đerdap National Park, famous Golubac Fortress, and local cuisine.
